Stand-Up Pouch Production QC Checklist
Quality control is essential for stand-up pouches because packaging defects can affect product safety, shelf life, appearance, and filling performance. A complete QC checklist should cover raw materials, printing, lamination, pouch forming, sealing, and final inspection.
1. Raw Material Inspection
Before production, verify the specifications of all film materials, including PET, PE, BOPP, CPP, aluminum foil, and other barrier layers.
Check film thickness, width, appearance, surface cleanliness, tensile strength, and roll condition. Confirm that the material structure matches the approved production specification and that there are no wrinkles, holes, contamination, or delamination.
2. Printing Quality Control
Inspect printed film for color consistency, registration accuracy, text clarity, and graphic defects. Check for missing printing, smearing, scratches, ink adhesion problems, and color deviation.
The printed design should be compared with the approved artwork or color standard before mass production.
3. Lamination Inspection
For laminated pouches, check bond strength, adhesive coverage, curing condition, and layer alignment. The laminated film should have a uniform appearance without bubbles, wrinkles, tunnels, or delamination.
Proper curing time must be maintained before the laminated material enters the pouch-making process.
4. Pouch Forming Inspection
During pouch production, verify pouch dimensions, gusset size, corner shape, zipper position, spout position, and overall appearance. Dimensional tolerances should remain within the agreed customer specifications.
Check that the pouch stands properly and maintains consistent shape after forming.
5. Heat-Sealing Inspection
Sealing is one of the most critical QC points. Inspect seal width, seal strength, sealing temperature, pressure, and dwell time.
Look for incomplete seals, overheated areas, wrinkles, channels, contamination inside the sealing area, and seal leakage. Seal strength and leak tests should be performed according to the product requirements.
6. Functional and Final Inspection
Finished pouches should undergo leak testing, dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and opening/closing tests where applicable. For zipper pouches, verify smooth zipper operation and reliable closure.
Before shipment, check packaging quantity, carton labeling, production batch information, and storage conditions. Any nonconforming products should be clearly identified and isolated.
